What do changing leaves, Halloween, and pumpkin-spices lattes have in common? They are all popular indications of Fall. While sugar rushes and scary movies are great, the season is particularly important to the aesthetically-conscious because it marks the arrival of Fashion Week. Twice a year, top designers from around the world come together to showcase the future of fashion (a.k.a. the reason for your empty wallet). New York, London, Milan and Paris were the first to reveal their women’s Spring collections last month featuring beautiful pieces from household names like Givenchy, Valentino, and Balenciaga.
The primary focus of the event is clothing, however, any designer or stylist will tell you that the accessories can make or break an outfit. The right earrings, shoes, or neckwear adds that extra “pop” to virtually everything   in your wardrobe. The following list of trends should keep you ahead of the curve when it comes to accessories, proving that you don’t need to be on the catwalk to get the best of Fashion Week.

Safety Pins- No, I’m not kidding Brands from Celine to Balenciaga are embracing the safety pin as a fashion accessory. Strung together as a necklace or pair of earrings, these pins were a mainstay in many Fall collections. Caution: be careful, very sharp.

Chokers- The Nineties are back (again). Large chokers are in this season, but small ones are good, too

Pearls– A great example of what can happen when classic meets contemporary. Pearls have been a fashion staple for hundreds of years because they are so versatile, pair them with your favorite denim jacket or sweater for a modern twist.

Know Your Roots– Fashion changes as nature changes, so why not incorporate some earthy tones in your add-ons this season?

Single Earrings– Earrings are like socks, you can only find half of the pair. Thankfully, single earrings are trending in London and Paris. If you really need two earrings, asymmetrical earrings also made the catwalk. Essentially, these are all ways to look put-together when you’re, clearly, not (finally, a way to justify your laziness).

Statement Necklaces/Pendants- “Statement” is a vague term, but these necklaces are categorized by anything eye-catching (cats, padlocks, claws). As with everything, moderation is key, be sure to dress-down the rest of your look to let these pieces shine.

These are just a few of the many different accessories we saw during Fall Fashion Week. Let us know your favorites in the comments below.
