When you think of J. Crew, you don’t always think high-fashion. The American brand has clothed men, women and children of all ages and walks of life with timeless staples for over three decades. And just in case you aren’t living under a rock, ever since President and Creative Director Jenna Lyons joined the company, she has taken the brand up a notch to appeal to the fashion darlings (you!).
For an influencer, teacher, mom, and 6-year old to wear the same brand and look great, well, that’s what we call a fashion brand success. Funny enough, those were the exact people the brand featured in its Fall/Winter 2017 presentation at New York Fashion Week in February. Executives, friends, and family – young and old, big and small – from the brand’s rolodex were tapped to showcase over the 65-look collection!
J. Crew classic pink, white, blue and khaki tones infiltrated the women’s collection with looks that were inspired by the brand’s well-known daytime attire and upgraded with a nighttime flare (think accented frills like star patches, camo, and tulle). The 90s-inspired essentials, the rugby and the rollneck sweater, also resurfaced and were revamped for today’s trend.
Some of the notable real people featured were E! News correspondent Zuri Hall, comedian Sandra Bernhard, blogger Tamu McPherson, fashion consultant Ramya Giangola, Refinery29 Co- Founder Christene Barberich, and Liv Freundlich and Mathilda Gianopoulos – Julianne Moore’s and Molly Ringwald’s daughters.
